How to Make a Whirligig
September 4, 2013
Description:
This whirligig was model after Steve Ramsey’s whirligig he made a while back. The concept stayed the same, but the theme was the main change. I decided to go with Matthew Stafford throwing a football. I painted it Lions colors and it was all made from 1/2″ and 1/4″ MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). I had a lot of fun making this project and it came out great! I would highly recommend building one of these and the possibilities are endless when you make one. I love the versatility and overall concept behind harnessing the power of the wind to make something that can entertain your family and neighbors!
Tip: I would add some type of waterproof spray or coating on your whirligig to keep your whirligig running smooth and looking nice for many years to come!
