How to Make Cornhole Boards

This week I’m making a corn toss game. My mom has been begging me to make one and I finally got around to making it this week. I started by cutting 4-2×4’s to 48″ long and another 4-2×4’s to 21″ long. I then connected 2-2×4’s at 21″ long to 2 of the 48″ long 2×4’s to make a 2’x4′ frame. From here, I screwed the 1/2″ thick plywood down to the top. I then measured 9″ down from the top and 12″ in from the side to mark the center for my hole. Using a compass, I drew a 6″ diameter hole and cut it out with my jigsaw. You will want to repeat the steps above to create the second board. Now I need to cut the legs to hold up the board. I cut 4-2×4’s at 12″ long and drilled out a 1/2″ hole towards the top of each leg (refer to video). I then drilled a 1/2″ hole in the side of the platform for each leg to connect. Using a 4″ long 1/2″ thick bolt, I thread it through the hole and used some washers and a 1/2″ wing nut to hold it together. I’d recommend painting the boards and/or using a clear coat to protect the wood for years to come. Below is a shopping/cut list if you’d like to make your own set!

Shopping List:

4- 2×4’s at 8′ Long

2- 2’x4′ Sheets of 1/2″ Thick Plywood

1- Bottle of Wood Glue (Titebond II)

4- 1/2″ Bolts at 4″ Long

4- 1/2″ Wing Nuts

8- 1/2″ Washers

1- Box of 3″ Screws (Connects the Frame)

1- Box of 1 5/8″ Screws (Connects the Plywood to the Frame)

Cut List:

4- 2×4’s at 12″ Long (Legs – Round over the top and drill a 1/2″ Hole at the top for the bolt to go)

4- 2×4’s at 21″ Long (Top and Bottom Rails)

4- 2×4’s at 48″ Long (Side Rails)

2- 2’x4′ Sheets of Plywood (Cut a 6″ Hole centered on 9″ down from the top and 12″ from each side)
