How to Setup a Jointer

December 29, 2020

Description:

Today I’m unboxing and setting up my brand new Grizzly G0858 jointer. I’ve been wanting a jointer for awhile now, but wasn’t sure if I had the space for one. As always, I was able to squeeze a little bit more room to welcome this new tool to my shop! However, I did have to wire up a 240v outlet to my shop because this tool is a beast! I’ll go through step-by-step on how to setup a jointer from unboxing it, all the way to its first test run! I started out by leveling the outfeed table to the cutter head. Next, I’ll make sure both the infeed and outfeed tables are parallel to each other and last but not least, I’ll setup the fence so its a perfect 90 degrees when upright and 45 degrees when its at full deflection. If you want a really good in depth look at setting up a jointer, this video should be able to answer any questions you have.
