How to Make a Featherboard

January 21, 2014

Description:

This week I’m making a featherboard out of a scrap piece of 1×4 pine. The purpose of a featherboard is to apply a constant pressure to your workpiece. This will allow you to keep your lumber flat on your table saw or router as you’re making a pass. I started out by drawing a bunch of lines on one end of my board. Using my bandsaw, I cut down the center of the lines about at about 5″ long. With all my cuts made on the bandsaw, I used my miter saw to cut a 22.5 degree angle for my featherboard. Now it’s just a matter of clamping the featherboard down to your table saw, router, etc. and you’re all set to go!
